Attack of the summer sequels

Many blockbuster movies are out this summer and all are worth seeing. They are the sequels to other movies from recent years. Here’s a quick trip through this summer’s big sequels.

The Matrix Reloaded (Rated R) is a sci-fi action film that features Keanu Reeves as Neo. It explains more about Neo being “The One”, and also the enhancement of Neo’s abilities. First released on May 15, it made $91.77 million on opening night and has a total gross of $273.91 million.

2 Fast 2 Furious (Rated PG13) Ready, Set, Go! This action drama film involves car racing, going undercover, and drug trading. This movie stars Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson. In this film, Brian Conner teams up with ex-con, Roman Pearce, to transport dirty money for import-export dealer, Carter Verone, with the help of agent Monica Clemente to bring him down. Released on June 6, made $50.47 million and a total gross of $122.45 million.

In Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (Rated PG13) Alex, Dylan, and Natalie are back and ready to do some butt-kicking action. Full Throttle is one sequel of dozens that were released this summer. Featuring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu. Released on June 27, made $37.63 million on opening night and a total gross of $81.53 million.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (Rated R) is an action sci-fi movie, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nick Stahl, Claire Danes, and Kristanna Loken as the new Terminator T-X. Living an invisible life, John Conner now has to find a way to stay alive when T-X is on her way to find and kill him. For his survival, his only hope is Terminator, or he must face the destruction of the world by killing machines. Released on July 2, made $44.04 million on opening night and total gross to date of $110.31 million.

Bad Boys II (Rated R) Bad boys, bad boys, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when they come with part two? This film is expected to be action-packed along with comedic performances by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. (Coming out July 18, 2003 in theaters everywhere near you.)

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (Not yet rated) is an action fantasy movie that features, once again, Angelina Jolie. Like the first Tomb Raider, Lara is on a mission to get the Pandora Box back before something catastrophic happens. (Coming out July 25, 2003.)

American Wedding (Rated R) is a teen comedy starring Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan. The two characters played by Biggs and Hannigan; plan to get married in two weeks. While planning the wedding, one of Jason’s friends wants to throw a bachelor party in order for him to fall in love with Cadence, Michelle’s sister. (Coming out August 1, 2003.)
