ALABAMA STUDENT SOCIETY FOR COMMUNICATION ARTS
(ASSCA AMBASSADORS)
Established in 1989 the Alabama Student Society for Communication Arts (ASSCA) is an organization that serves as the official ambassadors for the College of Communication and Information Sciences. The organization’s responsibilities include: hosting the COM 123 Speak-Off, hosting faculty/student receptions, serving as mentors for C&IS freshman, serving as ambassadors to aid in recruitment, publicity and other areas, hosting C&IS homecoming functions, creating service projects to benefit the Tuscaloosa and University communities, and aiding in the distribution of registration materials.
To apply a student must be a declared C&IS major or minor, hold at least a 2.5 overall GPA, and have the ability to devote time and energy to ASSCA projects. Applications are due each year in March and are available in the Tisch Student Services office.
