Selected Professional Experience:

Dan Meissner has more than three decades of experience in the communication profession and in teaching. He has served in photography, reporting, copy editing and layout positions with The Tuscaloosa News, and has extensive business experience in advertising, public relations, employee publications, media relations, crisis communication and government relations.

Meissner has taught courses in the journalism department at UA for more than 30 years. He received the designation of Senior Practitioner from the Public Relations Council of Alabama and received the Silver Medal from the American Advertising Federation ­ Tuscaloosa. He has received advertising, news writing and photography awards from the AAF, the Alabama Press Association and the Alabama Associated Press.
