Selected Professional Experience:
Kent
Gidley is Director of Athletic Photography for the University
of Alabama, where he is responsible for capturing images for
all 20 varsity sports.
Gidley
began his career out of high school, working with Bill Miller
Photography before enrolling at Alabama in 1985. Gidley became the student
photographer for the UA sports information department in 1986 and in 1987
became the athletics department's head photographer.
During
his Tide tenure, he has photographed numerous SEC and national
championship
teams and his work has been seen in many national publications.
Five media guide covers featuring Gidley's photos have been judged "Best
in the Nation" for their covers by the College Sports Information
Directors of
America.
He
received the 1999 Sarah L. Healy Award from the University
of Alabama Planning Board for his outstanding dedication and
service in the field of
publication.
