Julie Ann Pyatt
Chief Justice
Academic Honor Council
2008-2009
The University of Alabama
Promoting and representing academic integrity and high standards of academic achievement
are the goals and principles of the Academic Honor Council. The Academic Honor Council is
composed of nine justices who act as an appellate, deliberative, and symbolic body in the
College of Communications and Information Sciences.
As students in the College of Communications and Information Sciences, we are able to set an
example of high standards to our peers. Over the years, our college of Communications and Information
Sciences has become one of the most respected and esteemed colleges both on campus and in the nation.
In fact, our college initiated the development of Academic Honor Councils on the University of Alabama’s
campus. This success can be attributed to the building of strong relationships and trust between the students
and the administration. The council will first strive to set high standards among ourselves so that we will be able
to effectively evaluate any instances of academic misconduct. By treating others with respect, becoming
actively involved in the classroom, and striving to meet expectations of our college, the Academic Honor
Council is committed to maintaining a positive reputation and high ethical standards pledged by our college.
The 2008-2009 council enters its term during a period of growth at the university. With more students entering
the communication field, it is vital that honesty is not compromised, but instead becomes associated with success.
I look forward to serving as the Chief Justice for the council. Together, we will strive to communicate high
standards of honor, dignity, and integrity. We will work to offer assistance to those wishing to learn more
of how to uphold integrity both in academics and other areas of life. Please do not hesitate to contact me
