Public Relations Scholarships

 

Michael K. Simmons Memorial Scholarship

    • The North Alabama Chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama is pleased to call for applicants for the Michael K. Simmons Memorial Scholarship. The award is $2,000 toward the recipient’s tuition and fees for the Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 terms. The scholarship is open to students majoring in public relations or public relations-related fields of study such as public communications, marketing, mass communications, or journalism. Students must be enrolled in a university located in north Alabama and have completed at least one semester of coursework.
    • The award selection will be based on grade point average, extracurricular activities, a faculty recommendation and an essay.
    • Deadline: All applications must be postmarked by March 26, 2012 and mailed to NAPRCA Scholarship Committee, c/o Dr. Beth Garfrerick, University of North Alabama, Dept. of Communications, Box 5007, Florence, Alabama 35632-0001.

  • AAF-District 7 - $2,000 Scholarship

    • $2,000 scholarship offered by the Alabama Advertising Education Foundation.
    • Eligibility Requirements:
      • Junior or senior major in advertising, commercial art, marketing, or public relations at four-year college in Alabama.
      • Member of student ad club affiliated with American Advertising Federation.
      • At least 3.0 grade point average on four-point scale.

LaGrant Foundation Scholarships

    • Deadline: February 26, 2012

    • Undergraduate Eligibility: (current freshmen, sophomores, juniors and non-graduating seniors ONLY!)
      • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a member of one of the following ethnic groups: African American, Asian Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino or Native American/Alaska Native.
      • Must be a full-time student at a four-year, accredited institution, carrying a total of 12 units or more per semester/quarter.
      • Must have a minimum of 2.75 GPA and MUST major in a field of study that has an emphasis on public relations, marketing or
        advertising or must minor in communications with desire to pursue a career in public relations, marketing or advertising.
      • Must have at least one year to complete his/her degree from the time the scholarship is awarded in June.
    • Graduate Eligibility:
      • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a member of one of the following ethnic groups: African American, Asian PacificIslander, Hispanic/Latino or Native American/Alaska Native.
      • Must be a full-time student at a college or university that is accredited by a regional accrediting association.
      • Must have a minimum of 3.2 GPA and MUST major in a field of study that has an emphasis in public relations, marketing or advertising.
      • Must have a MINIMUM OF TWO ACADEMIC SEMESTERS left to complete his/her Master’s degree. Applicant must have at least one year to complete his/her degree from the time the scholarships are awarded in June

 

Delchamps endowed Scholarship for Advertising and Public Relations

    • Amount: Approximately $1,000 annually
    • Availability: One or two each year
    • Eligibility: Outstanding full-time students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in advertising or public relations priority to student involved in activities of Seventh District, American Advertising Federation (AL, GA, LA, MS, TN); including resumé

 

Melson Roche Leadership Scholarship Award in Advertising and Public Relations

    • Amount: A minimum of $1,000
    • Availability: One each year
    • Eligibility: Outstanding full-time out-of-state freshmen pursuing degrees in advertising or public relations who have GPAs of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and ACT scores of 25 or higher; must submit a brief, one- to two-page, double spaced essay demonstrating leadership skills; include a resumé

 

John W. Felton Public Relations Endowed Scholarship

    • Amount: Minimum of $1,000 annually
    • Availability: One or two each year
    • Eligibility: Available to students majoring in public relations (rising junior or senor level) who demonstrate high potential and exceptional promise as a public relations professional; applicant must be a member of UA student chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSSA)
