Application Materials

  1. Completed application form. To obtain the form . . .
    (a) Go to the University of Alabama web page (www.graduate.ua.edu).
    (b) Call the Graduate School: (205) 348-5921.
    (c) Contact the APR graduate coordinator
  2. $25 application fee.
  3. A statement of (a) why you want to go to graduate school and (b) career objectives.
  4. Three letters of recommendation (at least two from academic sources).
  5. Grade transcripts from previous academic institutions.
  6. Graduate Record Examination scores (Overseas applicants should also report TOEFL scores).
Minimum Objective Admission Requirements
Admission to graduate work in advertising and public relations requires a 3.0 or higher undergraduate quality point average (on a 4.0 scale) and a score of at least 1000 on the verbal and quantitative portions of the Graduate Record Examination. Foreign applicant should also have a score of at least 600 in the central administration of the Test of English as a Foreign Language.

Conditional Admission
Conditional admission may be granted to a student who falls below the minimum quality point or test score requirements. Students admitted conditionally must earn at least a 3.0 quality point average for their first 12 credit hours.

Each student's progress will be guided by the departmental coordinator of graduate studies. Students in the program must maintain a minimum quality point average of 3.0 and may receive no more than two "C" grades to be eligible to continue.

Applications for the fall semester should be submitted to the Graduate School by April 1.
