Experience
Dr. Kinney joined the University of Alabama faculty after teaching at Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, and the University of West Florida, Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Kinney's teaching interests are primarily advertising strategy, media planning and advertising research. Other teaching areas include mass communication theory, effects and research.
 
Research Interests
Dr. Kinney's research interests include the impact of mood on advertising response, along with alternative marketing communication techniques, including corporate sponsorship of sports and other events. Dr. Kinney has presented original research at both national and international forums. He has also published research in professional journals, including Psychology and Marketing, Journal of Promotion Management and Journal of Sport Management, along with book chapters.
